    Certification procedures

    ce

Machinery covered by Annex IV, but not built in compliance with or in partial compliance with the harmonised standards, the manufacturer (or his agent) must prepare the technical file provided for in Annex VII A. of Directive 2006/42/EC and is obliged to request the intervention of the Notified Body to perform:

    • the EC Type Examination (Annex IX of the Directive); or
    • the Full Quality Assurance procedure (Annex X of the Directive)

It must also ensure uniformity of production, issue the declaration of conformity and affix the CE marking on each machine.

For machinery covered by Annex IV, manufactured in compliance with the harmonised standards, the notified body is not required to intervene; the manufacturer (or his agent) must prepare the technical file provided for in Annex VII A. of Directive 2006/42/EC and may request the intervention of the Notified Body to perform:

    • the EC Type Examination (Annex IX of the Directive); or
    • the Full Quality Assurance procedure (Annex X of the Directive)

It must however ensure the uniformity of production, issue the declaration of conformity and affix the CE marking on each machine.

For machinery not covered by Annex IV intervention of the Notified Body is not necessary; but the manufacturer (or his agent) must prepare the technical file provided for in Annex VII A. of Directive 2006/42/EC, ensure the uniformity of the production, issue the declaration of conformity and affix the CE marking on each machine.

Who the service is intended for

The service is addressed to the manufacturer (production companies) or his representative (importer or dealer) who places on the European common market machinery or safety components, which are subject to the requirements of Directive 2006/42/EC and the applicable product regulations (harmonised European standards).

The Directive requires Manufacturers to affix the CE marking on the machines made by them and to draw up the declaration of conformity, certifying compliance with the essential health and safety requirements defined in the same Directive.

The Directive also applies to safety components that are placed on the market separately.
